There are so many wonderful things about the work of Peggy Porschen that I love. Apart from the fact that she makes the most stunning wedding cakes with beautiful sugar floristry decoration, she also makes very enviable wedding favours!  Peggy Porschen also has the most delightful Parlour in London that you can visit and shop to your hearts content (see below). In addition to the above, she also runs the Peggy Porschen Academy where you can take courses on how to make Sugar Floristry decoration, Wedding Cakes, Wedding Favour Cookies, Miniature Wedding Cakes with Sugar Flowers, and much more!

Peggy Porschen:

Fascinated by baking and cake decorating from childhood, Peggy moved from her home in Germany to London in 1998 to study at the internationally renowned cookery school Le Cordon Bleu. After successfully completing ‘The Grand Diploma of Cuisine & Patisserie’, Peggy held a number of prestigious Pastry chef positions in London. Quickly developing her own style, Peggy set up her own business in 2003 founding Peggy Porschen Cakes, a bespoke British design company that not only reflects her life-long love of baking but also celebrates beautiful craftsmanship, inspired by romance, fashion and femininity. Peggy has since become one of the most prominent and pioneering names in contemporary cake design and is renowned for irresistibly pretty and elegant designs that are not only visually stunning but also taste delicious. 

Author of three highly acclaimed titles, Peggy is widely known to have redefined the art of modern sugar craft. Her first book Pretty Party Cakes was voted ‘Best Entertaining Cookbook’ by the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. Peggy also regularly contributes to a number of influential titles including Condé Nast Brides and Wedding Magazine. UK television credits include the BBC’s Great British Wedding Cake, Rachel Allen’s Bake, ITVs This Morning, Good Food Live and Wedding Experts. 
Autumn 2010 saw the opening of the Peggy Porschen Parlour in London's Belgravia. For the first time Peggy is able to offer her previously made-to-order only designs to all on an everyday basis. The Parlour offers a selection of Peggy's own blend teas, inspired by flavours found in her kitchen as well as a new and exclusive collection of Peggy Porschen cake accoutrements & homewares. The Parlour is also home to Peggy's Bespoke Boutique, available to clients by appointment only. The dainty panelled boutique offers brides the opportunity to taste each of Peggy’s flavour combinations and consult with a design specialist. Peggy aims to create an intimate and enjoyable ‘tea party’ atmosphere for her brides as they select their wedding cake.

Visitors to the pink Parlour in London’s Belgravia will sample from Peggy Porschen’s latest collection of exquisitely hand-crafted cakes. Previously offering a made-to-order service only, Peggy’s highly sought after creations can now be enjoyed in the Parlour’s dainty surroundings or outside under the distinctive Peggy pink and chocolate brown canopies which adorn the corner of leafy Elizabeth and Ebury Street. 

The parlour’s elegant glass counter contains a selection of freshly baked cupcakes, cookies and Peggy Porschen confections, all created by the expert team of master bakers, patissiers and highly skilled sugar artists based on the premises. With flavour combinations designed to delight, the assortment includes Lemon Limoncello layer cake, frosty Banoffi cupcakes and deliciously dark Rich Fruit Cake. Indulge and enjoy with a pot of Peggy’s own blend chosen from a tea menu of eight delectable loose leaf varieties. The ideal accompaniment, each exclusive tea is inspired by the ingredients used in Peggy’s kitchen with blends such as gingerbread, vanilla and passion fruit to name but a few. 

The Peggy Porschen Parlour also unveils an exclusive new collection of cake accoutrements and homewares designed by Peggy herself. The Peggy Porschen Academy opened in January 2011 in Belgravia and is the first school in London entirely dedicated to baking, cake decorating and sugar craft. Following unprecedented demand for past master class programs, Peggy has personally created a comprehensive year-round curriculum with project-based and technique-lead courses and classes to suit a variety of proficiency levels, from those wishing to complete the professional Peggy Porschen Diploma and kick start a career in cakes, to those looking for a fun and enriching day out. 

Classes are led throughout the year by Peggy herself, her team of master bakers and sugar artists, all of whom have trained for years under her watchful eye and a host of guest chefs and industry experts. There are courses to suit both UK and international students with foreign language classes and translation services available. Students can enrol in a three day ‘Professional Tiered Wedding Cake’ master class and learn to bake the perfect sponge, securely stack and assemble tiers and pipe exquisite spring flowers, or may prefer to take a fun one day ‘Couture Cookies’ class and create their own chic collection of iced handbag, stiletto shoe and cocktail dress treats to take home. The Academy boasts a state-of-the-art teaching kitchen with well equipped facilities catering to classes of up to 8 students at a time. It is located just moments away from the Peggy Porschen Parlour and completes the ever-growing cake empire.
